St. Philips’ Food Pantry

St. Patrick’s has a long-standing relationship with St. Philip’s the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Anacostia, and has contributed to their food pantry for many years.

Every week volunteers from St. Patrick’s make the 15 minute drive to Anacostia to drop off food donated every Sunday by parishioners. Food pantry volunteers also bag food to be given to those individuals who have been referred to the food pantry. We have also coordinated food drives with the Day School in the summer months to keep the shelves stocked at St. Philip’s.

Getting involved with the work at St. Philip’s is as easy as adding some of the following items to your weekly shopping list: canned meat (spam, corned beef hash, chicken), canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter & jelly, macaroni & cheese, canned low-sodium soups, cold or hot cereal, and canned tuna or salmon.

If you are interested in being on the roster of volunteers to go to St. Philip’s (a commitment of only a couple of hours per month) please email parishioner Celia Wallace, email the church office, or call the church office at 202-342-2800.
