Lay Participation
There are many ways to participate in the life of our parish, such as Altar Guild, Acolytes, Lay Readers, and Greeters.
Acolytes
The Torches, Server, and Crucifer are responsible for helping to set the tone of the service, and participating in worship and prayers of the congregation.
Altar Guild
As ministry vital for the smooth functioning of services, the Altar Guild is responsible for set-up and clean-up for regularly scheduled Eucharists as well as for weddings, funerals and other special commemorations during the Christian year.
Flower Committee
The Flower Committee arranges flowers each Sunday, except during Advent and Lent, on the retable behind the altar in the Nave. In addition, chapel flowers are provided for the 8:00 AM Sunday worshipers.
Greeters
Every Sunday, a set of greeters is assigned to both entrances to St. Patrick’s. Our greeters welcome both existing members and newcomers at the door as they come to worship at Sunday services.
Liturgical Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LLEMS)
St. Patrick’s is blessed with a corps of individuals who accept the Rector’s invitation to serve in the distribution of the sacred elements of Holy Eucharist to the people of God.
Lay Readers and Intercessors
Lay Readers and Intercessors serve the community by reading the messages of the Old Testament, New Testament, and the Intercessions.
Nursery Greeters
In addition to regular Sunday Nursery staff, Parent Greeters volunteer to provide “extra hands and hugs” as needed to assist in the Sunday Nursery.
Nursery Teen Assistants
Nursery Teen Assistants supervise children in our Sunday Nursery, working as a team member with our Nursery Supervisor and Parent Greeter.
Pastoral Visitng Lay Eucharistic Ministers (PVLEMS)
This ministry provides the opportunity for licensed laity to take the Holy Communion to members of the congregation who are not able to be present at church on Sunday.
Pre-School Teen Assistants
Pre-School Teen Assistants work with a team of volunteer teachers who lead our Pre-School Sunday morning Christian Formation class for youngsters ages 3 & 4.
Psalmists
Each year we invite newcomers to St. Patrick’s to share in serving the community by reading the Psalm in response with the congregation.
Refreshments
The cadre of volunteers providing refreshments deserves many thanks for the amazing array of goodies that tempt us on a weekly basis..
Ushers
Because of the number of generous people volunteering to usher, each usher needs to serve only four times a year.
